There's a great chance that Polz was cutting a decent amount of weight as a freshman so he's not a good example. If it's true that Fagiano is only 195, then seeing a 35 pound increase isn't impossible. But he had to have been in the weight 5-6 times a week for the ENTIRE off-season. I find that hard to believe, unless he went out and lived in Siberia with Rocky and could totally focus his life on lifting. I'm surprised no one asked how big his dad, grandpa, or uncles are/were. Either his size increase is a perfect storm of great timing of a growth spurt plus extremely hard work, or something else is going on.
165 - 195 I can see that but theres no way the kid weighs 195. Why not go 189 then. He did give Ward his only loss...?

You should also all keep in mind what school he goes to - St. Pat's was in the news not too long ago because they drug test their kids. The accusations you are making border on libel.

Congratulations Joe!

Joe weighs 200 lbs. He cut weight last season from 176 to 160 and was practically dying. He goes to St. Patrick High school where all students are drug tested. He could wrestle 189, and that's what he started the season doing. We do not want him to cut weight. This post has spoiled what should be a very happy day for my family.

Just ignore the BS and ignorant garbage. Enjoy what was a great accomplishment, earned by hard work and dedication.

Trinka supporter

From a Trinka supporter? Trinka was on the other side of the bracket & they never met (thanks to Brantley). However, 16-17 year olds CAN have growth spurts. Brandon Check wrestled 125 his Jr. year & 171 his Sr. year. My middle son went from 120 to 150 between Jr. & Sr. years, my oldest went from 130 to 170 when he was 19 (changing from wrestling to football may have contributed to this), but there was NO juice involved (he was tested twice) & his bodyfat didn't markedly change.

If a guy on a message board questions why he didnt go 189 when he didnt know what the kid actually weighs ruins your day then you have other problems to worry about...

GoJoe215, please don't read these post. They have no history of your son or your family, how much weight he cut in the past or what he currently weights. These rumors are repeated year after year with no basis. From my personal experience I wrestled 145 my freshman year to 189 my senior year, and wasn't on a diet or workout program to gain weight for football.

You should be very proud of son's accomplishments. Good luck in the future.

Congrats to Joe Fagiano, his family and the coaches at ST. PAT'S ! All your hard work and dedication has come to fruition. Kepp up the good work and don't let sour grapes spoil your day in the sun. It's kids like you that will advance the sport of wresling. When other kids see how HARD WORK and DEDICATION pays off, they just might follow in your footsteps. Joe you've become a role model with all the love and support from your family, friends and coaches you'll do well. Don't let the detractors spoil a happy moment in your life " You only pass this way once, so enjoy it "

"No basis?"

The basis is a 55 pound weight gain in 8 months. If you were to gain that much weight in that short of a time period, be prepared for people to start asking questions....

Steroids or not, he obviously spent many hours in the gym. Even on the juice, you have to lift extremely hard to gain large amounts of muscle mass......

Whats so hard to believe a kid lifting 5 days a week? Maybe if more kids did that they would be a lot better off. Lets also not forget Joe can wrestle, I watched him downstate for the first time and he moves like a light weight, he impressed me very much.
