according to this site these are the tournaments the weekend you speak of:
Big 12
DVC
Eastern Illinois
ESCC
FVC
I-8
Litchfield
MSL
MVC
NIC-10
NSC
QND
Rockford Lutheran
SPC
SSC
CPS
Plus all the dual meets that day. You want the tournament ending on Sunday night I see. I guess no difference if the kids miss school Monday instead of Friday. I kind of like having Sunday to unwind. Also please note I said quality officials.

Hammer the only time having less weights for the duals was proposed was when I proposed it and we cut out 62 and 215. Never again has having less weights been officially proposed. Adding Thursday would be tough. Extra cost, missing another day of work, not just the parents but the coaches and the volunteers. Another day of school missed for most. If the tourny was ever expanded I would vote to use that time to go double elimination instead of adding the intermediates. 3 day IHSA State was a debacle this year. As it is now the tournament is too long. Weighing in & skin checks for 800+ wrestlers Friday morning would have to begin at 5:00 a.m. Old 52 that is what I am saying, right now we get the guys who are supposed to be quality. Can you imagine if they are not available and the IKWF gets the guys not considered quality?

then why allow midget to wrestle regionals in weight classes, only top advance to sectionals the following week? How does that emphasize developement when they're already 2/3 complete of what is the state series ?

There should be a true Midget state, and not in Danville two weeks later.

Our tournament format is the best version of a state tournament more so than the one the IKWF and IHSA run.

We have FULL wrestlebacks with NO WALKOVERS.

Lets face it, Most of the top midgets wrestle down in Danville year in and year out. To those kids who wrestle some steep competition it is a state title to them. I never hear kids complaining about Midget State either, and isnt that what it is all about at the end of the day the kids.

Let us not forget K is for KIDS!

The solution of starting the tournament on a Thursday will not work either... What are teams for example from Carbondale or East St. Louis areas supposed to do, leave Wednesday so they can make the weigh in? 4 nights in a hotel, doesnt seem to realistic. Just my two cents.

From what I have heard the midget state tournament in Danville is run very well and the parade of finalists is awesome. Hard to call it a true state tournament when anybody 8-10 can enter and there are multiple state champs at the same weight. Finally the k is for kash and please don't blow smoke about it is just for the kids. I for one have no problem with you making kash off the tournament and as long as you put on a good show it will continue to happen, but midget state=kash cow. Waiting for an IPO for bigbashwrestling.

Hammer, the state series should be same day weigh-in but it will not happen. Just like the IHSA will never put an end to the growth allowance. All the growth allowance does is entice coaches and kids to cut down as low as possible. Making 106 isn't so bad because eventually you can weigh 108. Make the weight what it is and kids will grow into the weight classes instead of cutting into them. Lastly, it is the Senior Dual Team Tournament so if any weights should be cut they should start with 66-70-74.

Not bashing your tournament, but you're delusional. To compare the quality and format to the IKWF state tourney or the IHSA state tourney is a total joke. You can be proud of your tournament but please be realistic. No qualifying and arbitrary dividing of weight classes and seeding questions exclude you from any meaningful comparison with those other two tournaments. In my opinion, no walkovers doesn't support your position either.

Doublets

I saw that the USA Board passed the doublets or 2 piece singlets for all folkstyle USA events. I am in an area that I have to recruit kids at my school constantly, One of the reasons I keep hearing why they dont want to is "I dont want to wear that singlet". If the IKWF followed USA on it and allowed them, I know I could get more kids out for my Jr. High team. Not to mention, the doublets dont have as much skin showing as a singlet. Here is what the Board approved:

- In conjunction with the recently approved NFHS weight classes, new weight classes were approved for the Cadet and Junior divisions which are listed below:
Cadet: 88*, 94*, 100*, 106, 113, 120, 126, 132, 138, 145, 152, 160, 170, 182, 195, 220, 285.
Junior: 100*, 106, 113, 120, 126, 132, 138, 145, 152, 160, 170, 182, 195, 220, 285.
* - non-NFHS weight class

- Line bracketing will be used for Schoolboy and younger National Championships, with each region determining the format for their Regional Championships. Cadet and Junior Nationals will remain vertically paired.

- A new format has been approved for the National Dual Meet Championships, which will ensure more competition against teams with similar abilities, and will reduce the amount of matches to no more than nine for any team per style.

- For folkstyle wrestling, a two-piece uniform was approved, allowing wrestlers to wear compression or board short and a tight-fitting sleeveless, short or long-sleeve shirt.

- Kids Regional Championships have been opened to all participants. In order to be eligible for the Kids Nationals, individual wrestlers must still qualify at his/her own regional.

- Term limits were set for the State Chairman’s Executive Committee, and grassroots councils and committees will be tasked with setting term limits for the chair and vice-chair.

Wrestling is a sport that all kids, lighter kids especially are able to compete and develop as young men. They are small and your idea is to scratch them out of the Senior Duals. So Senior duals only to you means only seniors above 74 it seems. So they are small, big deal. Let them enjoy their senior year since high school is going to be tough to wrestle at freshman year. By the way, how many kids in the IKWF are there that weigh say 156lbs or higher? Run a tournament and see how difficult it is to bracket seniors above that weight range. Numbers wise to fill a 19 weight lineup you may need 120 kids or more in the club or recruit them to fill weights. Yet every kid in high school wrestles dual meets. Preparing kids for high school and duals is important. There are many teams that could be added to this event with some kind of change to the number of weight classes.
