NHSCA Nationals Coverage
The 23rd Annual NHSCA High School Wrestling Nationals are underway at the Virginia Beach Convention Center in Virginia Beach, Virginia.The National High School Wrestling Championships set a new record with 2,679 total entries in five tournament divisions, more than 150 more than last year’s field. The Junior Division is the biggest with 745 entries, and the 676 entries in the Senior Division include a record 24 entries at 106 pounds – making the bracket at the smallest weight class nearly twice the size of last year’s field. Wrestling begins at 9 a.m. each day, starting on March 29 with the Freshman, Sophomore and Junior Divisions. All three divisions conclude on March 30, with the Freshman Division finals taking place at noon, the Sophomore Division finals taking place at 2:30 p.m. and the Junior Division finals taking place at 6 p.m. The Senior Division begins March 30 at 10:30 a.m., continuing March 31 with the championship round of 16, quarterfinals and semifinals. The Middle School Division also will be contested on March 31, starting at 9 a.m. On April 1, the Senior Division stands alone, with the All-American rounds concluding in the 9 a.m. session, and the Grand March and championship finals starting at 4 p.m. The High School Television Network (HSTN) will perform a live webcast on all 28 mats for all divisions for a full event pass of $24.99.
