Upsets?
Hawkins from Wilmington failed to get out of the first round in SEC F at 126.
I don't know Young Mr Hawkins at all but I have to commend both he and his coaching staff as he lost on a very blatant blown call. He stayed calm and cool and showed alot of respect and good sportsmanship. He'll be a class act in my book from now on. Anybody else see their season end early that was not expected to? |

Cody Hoshell of TROY beat two kids he had lost to all year in pretty convincing fashion to put himself into the championship match against caccavalle of Darien Caccavalle hit for stalling 3 times in 3rd period

Hawkins
Hawkins was very much a class act I totally agree but can't agree with a blown call as it was the right call. He also locked hands earlier in the period and it was missed. His coaches didn't argue because it was the right call. Safford wrestled very well and you can't take anything away from him. It was 0-0 in the third when the Hawkins locked his hands.
I thought for the most part the day was well officiated. Good Luck in the future Nick. |

95 pound weight class Derek Neises from mchenry parkland pinned Marco Perez who was had one loss in 3 years. Rankster ranked Perez 6th. Neises honorable mention. score was 9-1 second period.

Nieses from Parkland was a SQ last year. To me this is no upset because I know the boy. He lost to Rickard in the sectional final last year at 80#'s. Perez must have had more losses than you can remember because he has never placed in state.

If I remember countdalights had said something that they had a double digits amount of wrestlers that blew weight and something about their scale at school being off...

I know Perez is a good wrestler but Nieses is very good too. He was a practice partner of my sons and they went at it pretty good. He is a strong kid and he had a bunch of good practice partners last year to get experience from at Parkland...Mullen, Duh and Folino.
