I really do not care what other parents do with their kids. It will not impact how I raise mine. I could care less if every parent in the state held their kid back. I do not pass judgment on others. I try to show them respect for their choices as I would want others to respect mine.
I think this is MY post of the day (although it's always good to hear from Coach C!)...

I didn't mean to suggest that you were being "high and mighty" I just didn't want others to come crashing our little klatch with that mentality of "I value academics" or "you're a cheater" or whatever else -- I don't mind if you suggest those things but I'd prefer to keep the emotion out of it...

There were TWO motions -- one on "no 15 year olds" allowed based on age at the time of the tournament -- didn't get second...

...but there was another one, number 16, if I recall correctly about the "can only wrestle in the state series once as an eighth grader" and it did get seconded.

I am not sure if it was voted in or not -- I hope I get proven wrong...

So are grade school transcripts going to be requirement to wrestle in the state series...can't wait to see Urwin add that to his already massive paper load

Nice win by you guys this week, although it pains me it came at the cost of the school near and dear to my heart

But I do remember seeing the motion to go to a Double Elimination state tournament passed and is to be voted on sometime this month.
Hopefully that passes. Its going to make for a longer weekend though.

I have always found it funny that you are so easily hooked. Some time ago, you posted on another subject from a soap box. You rubbed some the wrong way and they at times try to bait you. This topic is the easiest one to get under your skin. Personally, I do not feel a need to explain my parenting or the choices I make on a public forum. If I chose to hold my son back, I would not feel compelled to explain myself. I could care less what people, who I do not even know, think of my coaching or parenting skills. The decisions that parents make are usually made with what they think is the best for their kids, even the bad decisions. I have a lot of respect for other parents, because life is hard and mistakes happen. Nobody likes to make mistakes, especially when those mistakes concern their kids. I will never tell other parents how to parent because I am just trying the best I can. In the end, I will find out how good of a job I did. I do not care what others do with their kids, just what they do to mine. Personally, I chimed in to have some fun, not for serious debate.

Hmmm. Not sure what to make of this response... I'm not necessarily looking for debate per se, how 'bout some discussion though?

A lot of your post seems to be about you and your perceptions of me -- I'll leave those alone...

As per the thread topic though, the IKWF even having an opinion on how kids go through school is asinine. They've been resistant to bordering on unwilling to do anything about severe weight-cutting (beyond a second day weigh-in for State and THAT was a heated struggle as well...) and that is FAR more dangerous than any holdback I know of...

Is there anything more to be said?

Ok, I will respond to my own post and add this (because it is Friday, and I would rather spend my time on IM than addressing the piles of paper on my desk):

I used to know everything there was to know about parenting before I had six kids. Have a great weekend to all the parents out there!

THe IKWF is not giving parenting lessons

If the information on the forum is correct, all the IKWF is saying is that a wrestler gets one shot at competing as an eighth grader regardless of his age, whether that age be 13, 14, or 15. Apparently there must be a perception among some in the IKWF that this is a problem. I had heard that several kids had been held back as eighth graders and some probably thought that the holdbacks were gaming the system.
