Once again, here is the 3A team state bracket: http://www.illinoismatmen.com/forum/...2&d=1265592090
It's an attachment from the "Dual Team Sectionals" thread.

This system has major holes in it. They should do some type of seeding. Providence Catholic is for sure one of the best 8 dual teams in the state, and does not even make the tournament.

The system is fine if the point is to determine a State Champion. If you're using this system to determine 2-4, then I agree. Providence is not the best team in the state as they were beaten out by Lockport. You can't really argue that whover wins the title doesn't deserve it.

Maybe a few 'Wild Cards" to the mix? Just a thought, along with seeding. |

They lost to them in a tournament not a dual! That is the flaw in the sytem. If Lockport would beat them in a dual then thats great but we often see the better dual team elimenated from dual team competition due to a tournament loss?

Simple solution ... go back to the old days were the 2 top teams in the Regional Tourney wrestled a dual meet the following Tuesday to determine the Regional champ. That way teams like Providence does not get the shaft!! |
