When I was in Colorado Springs this weekend I watched the episode of Tapout featuring Matt "Sunshine" Fiodarosa, who works out (worked out?) with Curran. It was cool to watch a show featuring an Illinois wrestler doing well from a hotel room in another state.

I'm not sure what has happend to "Sunshine"? He's been inactive for more than a year now. I know he opened up his own wrestling school so maybe he's just doing that now. He was a talented up and coming fighter. He was showing a real well rounded game to go with his wrestling. |

The night started in the amateur ranks in the bantamweight class. David Blakeslee took on Carson Beebe, the younger brother of former XFO standout and current WEC star, Chase Beebe. Much like his older brother Carson took the fight to the mat right away and dominated from the get go. He overwhelmed Blakeslee and survived a guillotine scare early in round 2 to maintain back control and sink in a rear naked choke for the tap out win at 1:13 of round one. source; x-fighting.tv |

David Silva Dundee Crown.
The welterweight clash between David Silva and Jason Erschmann proved to be the fight of the night. Silva looked to be in complete control early on, dropping Erschmann with a looping right hand and securing back control. From there Silva teed off with strikes but he veered to close to the back of Erschmann's head and received a warning and had to give up his dominant position as a result of the infraction. Near the end of the first round both men let loose with their hands and fireworks followed. Silva had an answer for Erschmann's hands in the form of a beautiful hiplock takedown. Erschmann managed to get back to his feet and stunned Silva with a right hand that crumpled him to the mat. Instead of taking advantage of the dazed state of his opponent Erschmann went for a guillotine instead and was treated to a powerful slam from Silva as an extremely close round one came to a close. Silva opened up round two with another high impact slam and after a little bit of work managed to secure a rear naked choke for the tap out victory at 1:48 of round two. Two very exciting rounds and great showings from both men. x-fighting.tv |
