Isn't it illegal under 18?

I don't think so. You can't buy until you're 18, but I'm pretty sure you can smoke at whatever age as long as your parent gives consent. Not too sure about that though.

I'm referring to what is termed at most schools who have the code of conduct, the "death penalty", when all athletics are taken away from a kid.
I hope you can understand this. |

So when do you draw the line? 10 times? 5times? Never, just let them wrestle? The are rules and he chose not to follow them.

Most communities have local ordinances that say it is illegal to possess tobacco products if you are under 18 no matter if your parents consent or not.

I wonder how many kids have gotten "free strikes" and were able to stay away from that 3rd one, or given an extra "Strike 3..."

I remember a few years ago a kid I wrestled with was caught smoking and they decided to only suspend him half a season so he didn't jeopardize his scholarship as long as he agreed to do volunteer work for the school. So he became an extra computer tech and helped with all computer stuff through his senior season. It worked out pretty good for him. Wish they could do something like that with Lucas!

MTC I agree with your last post. Some schools probably do turn their heads.

That's not the issue here, though. If his dad wants to spend the time and money to challenge the legality of the policy, more power to him. I have a feeling he's going to wish he hadn't when it's all said and done. |
