Junior freestyle race wide open

The Junior National freestyle race is going to be a tight one, folks.

Illinois still has the overall numbers. But we have to keep winning to hold off Oklahoma, which has a 22-19 edge in undefeated wrestlers heading into today’s action.

The good news is that 40 Illinois wrestlers still remain. Oklahoma has 31 left overall. Pennsylvania, which has 15 unbeatens, has the second-most wrestlers left – 33.

Minnesota, Iowa and Ohio also have numbers remaining.

Here’s how the top 10 states look as this morning’s session begins:

Illinois – 19 unbeaten, 21 in consolations

Pennsylvania – 15 unbeaten, 18 in consolations

Oklahoma – 22 unbeaten, 9 in consolations

Minnesota – 16 unbeaten, 12 in consolations

Iowa – 17 unbeaten, 10 in consolations

Ohio – 12 unbeaten, 15 in consolations

New Jersey – 13 unbeaten, 8 in consolations

Michigan – 10 unbeaten, 10 in consolations

California – 8 unbeaten, 12 in consolations

Missouri – 11 unbeaten, 6 in consolations

Good luck to all this morning!

3 out of 4 aint bad. Only 9 wrestlers made the quarters. The 1st two have lost. Wrestlebacks do not look any better with the draws. Hopefully we have a Champ or 2.

So far 1-4 in the semi's with 4 to go. I. White ranked #3 by Flo handles #2 Kemerer. We have another bakers dozen in the wrestlebacks 1 win away from AAing. We are underdogs in most of those bouts. I would like to point out some big wins over nationally ranked guys today. These wrestlers were ranked by either intermat or T.O.M. end of year rankings or by Flo 2015 rankings.
Kegan Calkins over Montoya
Alex Butler over I. Brown
P. Deloach over Longo
N. Deloach over T. Dutton
Luke Fortuna over DiBlasi
Trace Carello over Dayton Racer
C. Carr over Ty Wildmo
Hobbs over Monk
I may have missed 1 or 2.

It was a bad morning all the way around. We started with 40 and we only have nine left. So finishing fifth would be an accomplishment. We'll see.
