may go both ways
May be good for both. Now if the wrestler that can't make Jr High team for state, they can wrestle IKWF, which will add numbers to the dwindling Sr Division at regionals! this is a win win if local school districts don't screw it up

The only issue I see is that the iesa has a limit on number of matches and tournaments wrestled. My thought is that the is probably coming about because of the extra training which can be very valuable from what ive seen from alot of clubs

There will be a lot of kids that can't crack the starting IESA line up getting matches as well as some IESA studs sharpening their skills and seeking challenges in IKWF tournaments. I can envision a lot of good but not great IKWF kids opting for the IESA state series to get what they may think is a more realistic shot at a state medal and/or title.
The IKWF state duals just got more interesting as I'm sure their will be some rent-a-studs from the IESA in the mix. The biggest advantage for all will be the the practices/training/additional partners available for kids in both the IESA/IKWF. |

both IESA and IKWF
so a kid could be on both the school IESA team and the IKWF club - that sounds great. The school team practices almost every night and has tourneys on weeknights and the IKWF club practices around 3 nights a week and has tourneys on weekends.
Now - the plan would be to put the school IESA team first - but to occasionally practice and go to tourneys with the IKWF club - based on how many matches and the competition he's getting with IESA. Sounds like a good deal if it all works out. |
