Just a list of Savanna's conistancy back in the day. We had a qualifier every year since the early 60's? As for placers and the longest run the school has had we had a 1st or 2nd placer from 1974-1983 so it would be a 10 year streak of champ or runner up. From 1959 until this year according to the record books we have placed at least one wrestler 31 years out of that time but alot of years where multiple placers and champs.
I only listed 1st and 2nd placers, there were multiple other placers for the years listed.
1974= one 1st and two 2nd TEAM STATE CHAMPS
1975= three 1st and one 2nd TEAM STATE CHAMPS
1976= one 1st and one 2nd
1977= two 1st and one 2nd TEAM STATE CHAMPS
1978= one 1st and one 2nd
1979= two 1st and one 2nd TEAM STATE CHAMPS
1980= two 1st TEAM STATE CHAMPS
1981= one 1st
1982= one 1st and four 2nd TEAM STATE CHAMPS
1983= one 1st and two 2nd
I didn't put in all the 3rd-5th placers during that time, there are alot of them.

Savanna was absolutely a power back then. Since I wrestled at Augustana 1974-77, I am quite familiar with them. Savanna was the first team to dominate class "A" (which began my Sr year at OPRF in '74). Now, do I think Savanna would beat East Leyden head to head in a dual meet? No way.
