2006 carl sandburg
By far the best team i have ever seen, had six starters on the 2006 freestyle national championship team, they were ranked number 1 public school in the country and number 3 overall behind blair and st. Ed's.dominated everyone in state and out of state. The best teams to compare to is the run that providence had a few years earlier

Hey Tapout that was a great MC team but I think the 93 MC team was the best in MC history. They destroyed everyone that year and had 7 place winners. Scott Radosevich, Timmy Sheehan, Ron Stontisch, and Bo O'Rourke at heavyweight complimented, Joe Williams, TJ, Tony Davis, Joe Opiola. Plus you had Milton as a light 103 pound freshman but he was still pretty competitive. I don't think any of the Sandburg teams could have beaten that team. I'm completely biased but I just don't see how they would have matched up. You had three NCAA National Champs on one team that would have lit up some of Sandburg's studs.
Just my opinion but it's hard to argue. Sean |

BTW we ended up #2 in the country in 93 behind St. Ed's and I for the life of me couldn't see them touching us that year.

Best team I have seen is the '95 Granite City team. They may have beaten MC. It would have been a great dual!!

I was in Texas during the mid 90's. But does anyone have any idea how they would have matched up vs. the 87 Marist team? They were good, I know because we wrestled them.

I know they were good because I got my *** kicked sophomore year by Mike LaMonica. In addition to LaMonica you had Dennis DuChaine, Pete Andreotti, Paul Andreotti, Tom Salvino, Jerry Joyce, O'Brien. Very, very good but nowhere near the Sandburg teams or MC of 93, 94. They just don't match up well. And the 95 Granite City team was very good but I'm not certain they beat the 95 MC team. There was no team state that year. Sean |
