Please don't confuse anyone into thinking you're me. I already get enough bad press as it is.

Other than Benefiel and Connor Beebe, what other Montini kids were pegged to be AA? You can't say Foreside cause he never set foot in a D1 program and I still maintain that he was never thought of as one. Goebel chose Football over Wrestling. Mike Grimes was a 2x A champion that walked on at NIU and made the round of 12, I'd give more credit to Grimes for getting that far to begin with because nobody had those expectations of him.

I think the issue is most people have no idea what it takes to be a D1 All-American and that becoming an AA has more to do with where you go to college and less to do with what you did in high school.

That could be the case. I thought Benefiel hands down would AA, and most likely Beebe. I think Goebel would AA if he wrestled. I never thought Foreside or Grimes would AA in D1. IMO

I think people are ignoring the very likely possibility that Moniti's coaches are just getting more out of their wrestlers, and that Montini's "recruiting" is overplayed. Judging by my experiences in this state, it is not a stretch to think that a lot of kids are not even close to hitting their potentials in high school. Maybe things happen for a reason, and the "dropoff" is because Montini pushed their kids closer to their ceilings than other IL schools.

I think JD nailed half the issue on the head. You need to understand what it takes to be aa if kid doesnt have what it takes to understand no ones fault but there own

I punctuated the sentence, and it kinda makes sense now.

Well this combined with early vs late bloomers pretty much tells the story of college success.
