IWCOA Announces Hall of Fame Inductees
The Illinois Wrestling Coaches and Officials Association will induct sixteen outstanding contributors into its Hall of Fame as members of the Class of 2012. Ceremonies will be held at the Park Place of Countryside, 6240 Joliet Road, Countryside at the 42nd Annual Hall of Fame Banquet on Saturday, April 14, 2012.
Inductees were also recognized at the IWCOA State Tournament prior to the start of the Friday evening session of the IHSA Individual State Tournament at the Assembly Hall in Champaign.
Since 1971 the IWCOA has honored wrestlers, coaches, officials and contributors for their accomplishments in the sport of wrestling. In 1972, this organization created the IWCOA Hall of Fame. Since that time, 487 men and women have been selected to this prestigious group.

2012 Hall of Fame Inductees
Paul Andreotti, Marist/Northwestern. Two time state champion, NCAA National Tournament Qualifier
Jeff Bowers, Bloomington. State tournament official for a total of 13 state meets
Don Devine, Crystal Lake. Former Bloomington High School and SIU wrestler, coached at Cary-Grove and serves on the National Hall of Fame and Museum-Illinois Chapter Committee
Jim Dunn, Lawrenceville. Coached for over thirty years at Lawrenceville, winning over 300 dual meets
Craig Fallico, Maine South. Coached at Maine South from 1997 and was previously at Marist and Gordon Tech. Coached many junior and cadet teams.
Dr. Bernard Feldman, Palos Park. Served as Medical Director for the Junior World Championships and has been a FILA and USOC appointed physician for National, World and Olympic Championships.
Salvatore “Sammy” Fiorella, Chicago (St. Laurence). Catholic League Champion and two time NAIA All-American, 1975 NAIA National Champion.
Jevon Herman, St. Charles/University of Illinois. Two time state champion for St. Charles and NCAA Division I All-American for Illinois.
Rod Houston, Camp Point (Central). Coached for 34 years at Camp Point, winning 334 dual meets. He ranks 15th for most wins among Illinois coaches.
Fred Johnson, Augustana College/Waubonsie Valley. NCAA Division III National Champion, former head coach at Waubonsie Valley High School, winning 275 dual meets.
Gerald “Jerry” Johnson, Lincoln-Way. Head coach at Lincoln-Way for 15 years, state tournament official
Don MeKeel, Sterling. Head coach at Sterling for nine years, winning 140 duals. An official for over 37 years he worked the State Tournament, either dual team or individual, ten times.
Ben Morris, Fenton/Univ. of Minnesota. Four-time state medal winner, won the state championship his senior year. Wrestled at Minnesota and was a national qualifier. Head coach at Stillman Valley and Batavia the past seven years.
Don Morrissey, Rosemont. Former University of Illinois wrestler, founder of the Rosemont Cobras. Leader in the development of the Illinois Kids Wrestling Federation.
Dennis Ragan, Carbondale. Wrestled at Granite City and SIU-E. Coached at Carbondale for 32 years, winning 349 duals. Coached 2 state champions and seven placewinners.
Sam Wasserstrom, Norridge (Ridgewood). Wrestled for Lane Tech and NIU. Coached at Ridgewood for 26 years. Teams won 349 duals and he coached three state place winners and one state champion.
