At the risk of taking sides ... it's all about marketing. When was the last time you ate at a restaurant that said it was "decent", or "slightly better than average"?
The purpose of the web site is to put butts in the seats. You are able to read other sites if you want information and rankings. The University site is one of their marketing tools - just like 90% of all other web sites.
Besides, if they oversell a bit but get more people out to watch or gain additional general press coverage is that bad for the sport?
