Montini had 13 last year. Jayne at 135 was the only one not to qualify for state.

Meant to put 171 Bobby Grimes from Montini taking second, not Shelton Wallace from Uplift. Capitelli fro Lakes will still take first, and Havlovic from fenton will still take third. i guess we'll find out on saturday.

at 171 I see Capitelli taking 1st. Beyond that you have Havlovic, Grimes, Wallace, Love and Montemayor. Anything can happen during the course of a match. I see a number of wrestlers with different wrestling styles. You never know how they will match up.

Read the question Maddog81: How many did they get last year (in reference to how many from Montini advanced to State)? 13. This Fenton Sectional is a joke compared to the teams last year (Richmond Burton, Glenbard South, Crystal Lake Central and Lakes).

A number of the better teams moved into the Woodstock Regional (Richmond Burton, Crystal Lake Central, Johnsburg, Wauconda & Marion). With that regional feeding into Sterling, that became a meat grinder.

If you are setting up the regionals and sectionals based on geography, how do you feel it could have been done better? It is not the fault of anyone attending the sectional, that some of the competition will be thin at some weights. Two of the regionals feeding the sectional are primarily Chicago Public School teams (no offense to the CPS).

As for Montini vs. the quality of the rest of the sectional, would Montini consider it a poor showing if they don't qualify all 14?

Montini folks, chime in.

Several Schools hit twice

The Fenton sectional was by far the toughest sectional last year and much of that was due in a large part to quality wrestlers from Ricmond Burton, CLC, Marian, Wauconda, Burlington, Marengo, Rockford East, and others. Now these teams get pulled out of Fenton making it a Montini cakewalk and these schools get sent to the new meatgrinder in Sterling. Lots of good wrestlers getting "luck of the draw" 2 years in a row.

I know that "it is what it is" but how about moving the meatgrinder around or better yet, balancing the field a little better? Goal should be to get the best 12 in Champaign. Tough to do when 5, 6, or even 7 of the best are in the same sectional. Not a fluke of one weight class either but almost every weight class will have several "top 12" wrestlers home next weekend.

Thumbs down

I know Sectional competition will change year to year. I get it there is not a perfect system right now to get the top 12 and that is unfortunate.

As far as Montini placing wrestlers at State. If they don't place 15 guys that would be a big disappointment....14 wrestlers and either Lembas or the team manager. Lembas in OT!
