Observation about officiating

I think you'd be pretty hard pressed to find any coaches that relish the thought of reffing when their team is on the mat. Even if they 100% get every call right (not likely) they still run the risk of someone saying "but if a homer wasn't reffing.....................". Most of these guys do it for one reason: the organiser can't get anybody else.

What this state really needs is about 150 additional refs, but with the flack a lot of guys get when anything goes wrong, coupled with the current system that really stymies advancement of young, good refs,.............

wow...that is sad. No wonder officials get so much grief. If it is called wrong they get grief obviously and if it is called right, the coaches look at them like they are crazy because they haven't seen it called right all year long...
