I know Tannenbaum alluded to it in his interview on the jumbotron video this year, but 2001 Kucala pinning Tannenbaum in the 125 championship.

you're not getting it. I am not saying that someone who gets caught didn't want it as much.

In the match being discussed, Gregerson was not up by that much (maybe 4) and it was the first or second period. Let's give credit to the other guy for continuing to come after him and have confidence in what he was doing. Also when he hit his back I didn't see much fight.

As for one person wanting it more than another, I believe it plays a role all the time. We have all seen the better guy lose when he is not completely in the match metally. Some wrestlers are focused on a goal and once they don't achieve it the collapse.

For example, I know several wrestleres who had a goal to be a state champ and once they lost they then lost their next match to someone who wanted to be a state placer more than them.

I don't want to focus on this one match. Let's just answer the question do you think how bad someone wants it has an effect on the outcome?

I do and you here about it at all levels. It has been said several times in the last week about the NBA playoffs.

You say don't focus on this match, why? You said the other kid wanted it more, and everyone is just pointing out how that statement is just not true. In a close match back and forth I would agree, the kid who wants it more will win. This was not the case the kid was winning by a large margin and got caught plain and simple. Your point is taken, but that was not the case in this match.

just the facts

Joey Gilbert pinning Gardner in quarters or semis, and Benefiel firemans Blanton to his back in the championship match.

Responding to many

Loudest moment at Assembly Hall---Joey Gilbert taken down by Ryan Schafer then erupting and pinning Schafer soon there after---loudest ever. Some of the other moments mentioned were more stunning with mouths wide open. How many other wrestlers have had stats being passed around about them as the Hall?? How many TD he had for/against...pins/near-falls/etc.---anyone remember that sheet, has that happened for others??

Next, Brandon Donofrio may be one of the best wrestlers to never PLACE at state...he was the real deal and lost that year to a Freshman TJ Williams 4-3 after an injury plagued career. He was tough as anyone and beat Gerdes multiple times. Grew up together, he was feared as a 2nd grader...lol

Sam Geraci...please, please, please post those videos you have, people our age would LOVE to see your matches. Someone who beat both Brands, Dennis Hall, and Kolat deserves to be seen!! Flashback Thursday??? Thanks again for the awesome clinic you put on for our MSND group, super cool!!

Lastly, Will-I-Am...anybody who attended those three shows realizes the first show in '95 was one of their most under rated show EVER. It was a "Sample" show with the band showing off multiple musical styles while still trying to impress attendees and gather more fans. The only event NOT occurring in '95 was the mother ship opening the roof to Assembly Hall and taking the band back to whatever planet they came from...at least my observation, for sure!! I did blow my ACL that week in '97, so it was a rough show for me. First show was at a place called Mabel's for $6 (across from Murphy's), it's now some place called Brother's...but they had the best live music for many, many years!!
