Toughest high school wrestlers from Illinois

After watching Jay Cutler not play the second half I got to thinking about the famous line from the movie 300,"either come back with your shield or get carried out on your shield."

With that in mind who are some of the toughest high school wrestlers Illinois has produced. DO NOT include acts of toughness from college or IKWF, hign school only!

Are you asking for recent, or historical, examples? Do you want only examples from the high school careers?

One that I remember is Rob Brady from Harvard. He had a seperated shoulder that came out of place all the time. Never quit. I remeber one of his matches down at state his senior year he had to put it back in three times during the match. He would just get down on all fours and do this swinging motion around the arm. Every time the fans would yell eewww or something like that. Think he had to do it about 5 times that day in total. Should've won state that year but you could tell the shoulder was a huge issue. Still ended up third or fourth.

Danny Collins was never not hurt. Left as a state champ unable to be on picture stand straight to hospital. Tough as nails.

I remember this.... he got knocked dizzy butting heads with Boback and was put to his back ... which forced the match into OT .... the ref stopped the match for several minutes (I recall blood time saved him) .... Collins miraculously managed to win in OT and had to be rushed to the hospital right after the match for a concussion!

he woke up in the hospital and asked " Did I win state"?

Hands down the toughest kid wrestling with injuries all throughout his career!

(Dang someone took the first one that came to mind) Don Reynolds winning his 2nd State Title on basically one leg

Nick Passolano(NLP) sat out the Individual State Tournament his Jr Year nursing a blown out Knee but managed to wrestle in the Dual State series to help Providence win the 1999 title. He lost both his matches he wrestled in (Semis and Finals) 3-2 but saved the team bonus points. Someone help me but didn't he qualify for state then sat out the Individual Series? IHSA doesn't have Sectional Tourney results from that year. The Next year (2000) he won his Individual State Title at 160.

Jason Christeson from Bethalto also had a separated shoulder. Won a state championship with a first period pin. Rumor has it he told the coach ahead of time to never let him quit a match due to pain in his shoulder, no matter how much he wanted to, even if he begged.
