Spangler vs. Blanton

Now -- I have to admit I was skeptical of Spangler at the beginning of the season --- I have now changed my tune -- with a win over top ranked Roddy and a decisive win over the state champion from Iowa -- I fully admit that Spangler is one of the top 171 in the nation -- or is he the best?????

With the exception of Chris Phillips from Monroe Ville Ohio (freshman) -- Chris is the best - in my opinion! He has grown into his new body and utilizes it well -- great scrambling and smart wrestling are combined to make him a huge force going into the end of the season! So the question remains --- CAN HE TAKE OUT BLANTON? Jordan was there yesterday adorning his Illinois warmup jacket -- was he there as a fan? or was he there checking out his main competition?

Interesting

I just looked at the 2005 DVorak Brackets:

Spangler won the 103 Bracket, and beat BJ 12 - 6 in the finals, and beat Morrison 10 - 0 in the semi's.

I think he can wrestle at any weight.

Just an interesting observation

I would bet that Jordan the Natural Blanton was there as a fan first but I am also willing to bet that he gave Spangler a good look as well. He would be a fool not too as Spangler is a gifted wrestler and I am sure the Richmond schedule will never put him in position to get that look

Good look or not, Blanton will have his hands full. If he ends up in another cradle (like Benefiels last year), it could all be over before it starts. I have always been a Blanton fan, but I think that Spangler is the one to beat this year. He definatley has and will see better competition during this season. Blanton wrestles some tough kids off season but just doesn't see the teams that Nequa will see toughout the season. Jordan needs the early takedown, and needs to get in Spanglers head a little bit, and if anyone can get in someones head, it's Blanton.

Nr. Blanton (the Natural One...now that was a funny one...good stuff pin2grin) mades some nice statements during my interview concerning Spangler. Always a class act Blanton's interview is worth a listen to. It will give you a nice feel for how Blanton goes about his business. Win or lose he has gained me as a fan. Check out the interview on the home page.
